How To Play Gemix
Straight off the bat, you’ll notice that the Gemix casino game isn’t like most other slots. The unusual 7 x 7 grid looks more like the popular mobile games of late, like Candy Crush, than a traditional slots title. Mainly, this is because, instead of spinning reels, you have falling gems. And these gems disappear when you make a winning combo. Meaning that the others remain in place, and new gems fall into the gaps. So you always have 49 symbols on the screen at once.
That said, this game does follow the general rules of a slots feature. In that, in order to win, you must create paylines (or, in this case, patterns) with the same symbols. However, where this game comes into its own is with the different characters, bonus features and other worlds that you can play in.

Pay table and paylines
Unlike the majority of slot games, Play N Go’s Gemix doesn’t have any fixed number of paylines. Instead, you have to match symbols to different patterns, which can be seen on the right of the screen as you play. These patterns change, depending on which world you’re in. The game is divided into 3 worlds: Miner’s World, Princess’ World and Wizard’s World. Wilds and other features change from world to world. For example, in the Miner’s World, the wild is a miner’s lamp. But in the Wizard’s World it’s the spell book. Whereas, in the Princess’ World, it’s a lollipop!
By matching 5 or more of the same symbol, you start to create winning lines. And if you can match 20 or more, then you will trigger the Crystal Charge feature. This magical little extra then randomly activates 1 of 4 additional features, which are:
- Nova Blast: 1 gem will explode, and turns adjacent symbols to match it
- Light Beam: watch as 1 gem will fire out lightning bolts, which transform other symbols
- Crystal Warp: a randomly chosen gem will transform matching gems into other varieties
- Chain Lightning: 2 opposite corners on the reels will connect through lighting, turning all gems into one of the corner symbols
All this may sound a little complicated. But gameplay is pretty straightforward. And you’ll get used to the symbols and how everything works quickly.
Gemix wager limits
The minimum bet on Gemix is 50p. As we’ve mentioned, there aren’t a fixed number of paylines, so it’s hard to equate that amount to amount-per-line. But, with so many patterns and extra features bringing in wins, this minimum bet amount seems pretty fair to us.
The maximum bet is £100, which is also a decent amount for a top bet. It’s not as high as we’ve seen with some other titles. But it’s certainly enough to satisfy the high rollers out there.
Strangely, the Gemix jackpot is set at 4,513.5 x your original stake. We’re not quite sure why they went with such an oddly specific number.
